Destination Tshwane

Come as many. Move as one.

No city is a single story. A city is what happens where histories, cultures, institutions, communities and ambitions run into one another — and keep moving together.

Tshwane is that kind of place: a capital made by convergence, wide enough to hold whatever you bring to it.

Where we meet.

A jacaranda-lined street in Pretoria in full purple bloom, petals across the road.
Culture
Sandstone government buildings with a domed rotunda and terraced gardens in golden light.
Heritage
A cable-stayed bridge with a single inclined pylon at blue hour.
Innovation
The capital skyline at dusk under an orange sky.

01 · The idea

Convergence does not erase difference. It gives difference a shared direction.

Two paths enter from opposite corners, meet on the vertical axis, and leave as one. The open wedge between them is never filled. That gap is the argument.

Two point nine million people across seven districts are not one thing arriving. They are several, going the same way.

Grid rule — every section sits closer to the axis than the last.
At 01 the columns are 132px apart. At 08 they touch.

02 · The mark, part by part Select a part to isolate it
The Destination Tshwane mark: two arms meeting on a vertical stem, with an open wedge between them.
03 · Two states

One identity, two registers.

Full colour speaks to visitors. Single colour speaks for the institution. Same geometry, both times.

The full-colour mark: purple and gold arms with the open wedge, over the wordmark, on a cream ground.

A. Full-colour mark

Destination communications, campaigns, visitor experiences, environments.

The single-colour mark: the same geometry in cream on a plum ground.

B. Single-colour mark

Formal, institutional and technical use, and anywhere reproduction is uncertain.

Clear space
One stem-width, four sides. The arms bleed to the corners; there is no box to measure from.
Minimum size
64px / 22mm full colour. Below that, single colour.
The open wedge
Never filled, never tinted, never a container.
04 · Seven districts

Seven ways in.
One destination.

Each district arrives with its own economy, its own crowd and its own hour of the day. Select one on the map.

06 · The green thread

One river runs the length of the destination.

The Apies starts in a reserve older than the city's suburbs and ends in game country. Told along the water, a scattered list of green assets becomes one route a visitor can walk.
